Vicki Hewison

Vicki Hewison

Vicki is an independent candidate standing in Garff.

This is her first time standing in a General Election.

She is a Laxey businesswoman and campaigner, having opposed plans to close the Cummal Mooar Older Persons Complex in Ramsey.

During the pandemic, she also created and ran Laxey Lifeline with a team of volunteers, to help keep people safe and supported.

She has one child and has three cats called Johnny, Jemima and Sassy.

In her spare time, Vicki loves cars, walking, socialising, live music and cooking.

Vicki says: “I am a firm believe that actions speak louder than words. I am not afraid to stand up, challenge and be counted.

"As a constituency, Garff is facing some real challenges with the spectre of Mooir Vannin Windfarm and also the Laxey Sewerage Treatment works.

"Voters need to regain trust and believe that their elected representatives will be vocal and active to ensure that the best possible outcome is reached for our community in both scenarios.”

We asked each candidate to tell us what their priorities would be if elected.

Vicki says nationally it's the economy, community services and trust in government, while locally she opposes the current plans for the Mooir Vannin offshore windfarm, to challenge the scheme for the Garff Regional Wastewater Treatment Scheme, and act as a champion for the elderly and vulnerable.
