Steve Curphey
Steve is an independent candidate standing in Ayre and Michael.
While this is his first time standing for the House of Keys, he's been a Ballaugh Parish Commissioner since 2021 and is currently chair of the board.
In his day job, he deals with management and consultancy, and is managing Sulby Claddagh on behalf of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
He has one dog and 20 chickens, and enjoys walking, gardening, taking care of his animals and politics in his spare time.
Steve says: "My decision to stand is rooted in a simple belief: politics must remain close to the people it serves.
"Too many residents feel that decision-making has become distant from everyday life, and that government has too often been reactive when it should have been proactive.
"I believe Ayre and Michael, and the Isle of Man as an independent nation, deserve representation that is accessible, accountable, and prepared to lead with purpose and compassion."
We asked each candidate to tell us what their priorities would be if elected.
Steve chose government, departmental and civil service review and reform; fairer taxation and National Insurance reform; and health service budgetary control.
