Covid-19: 'R' number falls sharply

A further two deaths have been recorded in the past seven days

The Island's Covid reproduction rate - otherwise known as the 'R' number, has decreased to 0.7.

That's down from 5.15 from the previous week.

The latest surge in the number of positive cases of Covid-19 is being attributed to the TT festival and bank holidays.

Data from the government's public surveillance report also shows the seven day average for positive cases stands at 144.

Twenty-one patients are in Noble's hospital with a positive test result and a further two people have died bringing the total number of deaths as a result of the pandemic to 110.
