Home Affairs Minister to meet Commissioners

The future of Ramsey courthouse has sparked an emotive debate

Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey has been invited to meet with Ramsey Commissioners over the future of the town's courthouse building.

The local authority this afternoon revealed it received more than 930 submissions following a recent consultation on the matter.

In the House of Keys this week, it was confirmed the property was for sale at £475,000 on the open market - with some interest already shown in the site.

Many people have expressed their disappointment with the decision to offload what's been described as the 'heart of Ramsey'.

Speaking earlier, Commissioner Wilf Young said the situation worries him.

Submissions will now be reviewed and discussed by the Courthouse Sub Committee at a private meeting tomorrow - with a report on the options then considered at a Commissioners meeting next Wednesday.
