Song for farmers released

Local band Barrule is hoping to raise cash for farmers whose livestock’s been hit by the cold weather – with a song about eerily similar events 300 years ago.

Musicians Tomas Callister, Jamie Smith and Adam Rhodes have released the song Ny Kirree fo Niaghtey, The Sheep Under the Snow, and are asking people to make donations.

The Manx gaelic song is an 18th century ballad telling how Manx farmers had to rescue sheep after deep snow fell.

All donations through Paypal will go to the Agricultural Benevolent Trust, and you can download it and make a donation at barruletrio.com.
