Problems found during daily inspection
Both of the Island's Hyperbaric Chambers are temporarily out of use (Fri 22/06 8am)
It's after problems were identified with the units following their daily inspection routine.
Operators say the issue requires immediate attention and the Kevin Gray Memorial Trust has had to suspend patient appointments and treatment of diving accidents until the matter is resolved.
The Trust says whilst some of the development funding and donations will have to be used to resolve the problem, the full replacement costs of certain key components isn't yet known.
Whilst the Trust says there isn't any immediate funding concern for the facility, all donations to run the essential service for the Island community are greatly appreciated.
They've apologised for the inconvenience caused - but say they are also going to use the downtime on the chambers' use to undertake any upgrades that may possibly have been required within the next couple of years.
