Members of Tynwald to travel to Dublin for Study Visit

Delegates to be hosted by the Houses of the Oireachtas

group of Tynwald members are travelling to Dublin this week for a study visit to the Irish National Parliament.

The delegation, headed by the President of Tynwald Laurence Skelly MLC includes MHK's Rob Callister, Ann Corlett, Tim Glover and Stu Peters, and MLC's Paul Craine, Dawn Kinnish and Robert Mercer.

They're accompanied by Deputy Clerk of Tynwald, Joann Corkish and the Table, Hansard and Publications Manager from the Office of the Clerk of Tynwald.

It's hoped the visit to the Houses of the Oireachtas will allow the group to learn more about Committee work and 'gain a broader understanding of current issues of mutual concern'.

The delegates will be meeting with Committees Secretariat Coordination Unit looking at the Committee overview, structure of Oireachtas Committees and reporting.

They will also be meeting with the Committees themselves in areas of common interest including: the Committee on Transport and Communications; the Joint Committee on Tourism, Culture, Arts, Sport and Media, and the Joint Committee on Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

The costs of Tynwald Members’ parliamentary off-Island travel are posted on the Tynwald website.
