Tynwald to consider custody law changes

Possible trial of e-cigs doesn't indicate failure of smoking ban

It's been revealed some prisoners have been using substances such as tea bags and hair in hand-made cigarettes at Jurby - posing serious health risks.

Tynwald is now being asked to back changes to the Island's custody laws in a bid to address the issue.

If approved, it'll pave the way for a six-month trial of e-cigarettes at the Isle of Man Prison.

Tobacco Lead Anita Imberger says the move shouldn't be interpreted as a failure of the prison smoking ban:
