£2 million VAT case collapses

Two men accused of being involved in a £2 million fraud plot against the Manx authorities have been formally acquitted by the Royal Court in Jersey, after the prosecution case against them collapsed.

Ian Blatchly and Christopher Adams had been charged with unlawfully inciting the Jersey resident directors and officials of Plandex Properties Ltd. to defraud the Isle of Man VAT authorities of £2,167,180.

The offences were allegedly committed between August 31and November 30, 2005.
