50 businesses help raise £5k for Victim Support

Island supports Dress in Yellow Day

Fifty businesses on the Isle of Man have helped raise more than £5,000 for Victim Support.

Organisations supported 'Dress in Yellow Day' on 11 February which aims to raise awareness of sexual abuse and sexual violence.

The fundraising day was held as part of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week

Landmarks around the Island were also lit up in yellow to show support.

Amber Oakley is the marketing officer: "It was great to see so many people get involved this year and so much yellow!

"Thank you to all of the organisations and community who got involved or donated to Victim Support we really appreciate the response we received from this year's Dress in Yellow Day.

"The total amount raised (£5,357.19) will go towards providing emotional support and practical help to victims of crime on the Island."

Victim Support saw a 71 per cent increase in sexual assault referrals in the last quarter of 2021 compared to the same period in the previous year.
