MANX RADIO UPDATE:

MANX NEWSCAST:

  • Ballaugh Commissioner wants NCAS re-use shed opened

A Ballaugh commissioner says no northern commissioners should sign an agreement over the Northern Civic Amenity Site until the re-use shed is opened. Paul Weatherall believes the site needs to be reinstated because it provided 'value' to residents and allowed people to dispose of items in a 'responsible' way. A spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure said the sites are operated and funded by local authorities and it's up to Ramsey Commissioners to open the re-use shed - which is closed for 'operational reasons'.Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to Mr Weatherall.

AGENDA:

  • Agenda 14.7.25 - David Ashford MHK on safeguarding, immigration, human tissue donation and department plans.

There’s a saying that if you want a job doing ask a busy man. Well, David Ashford seems to be the man to ask as he’s taking the Safeguarding (Amendment) Bill 2025 through Keys, is taking four pieces of legislation through Tynwald relating to the Human Tissue and Organ Donation Act 2021, he’s got the Cabinet Office Department Plan to move as well as the Council of Ministers Update Report on Inward Migration. So what does all that mean in relation to our lives. Is government so busy being busy that it hasn’t got time to get anything done?

PERSPECTIVE:

  • Perspective 13.7.25 - DoI Minister on 20mph speed zones and changes to local government law

DoI Minister Michelle Haywood certainly seem in a hurry to get things done and bring about significant change to our lives. With government’s record for speed being noteworthy primarily for its absence you’d imagine the Minister’s drive and determination might be welcomed as a breath of fresh air?! She’s certainly succeeded in dividing public opinion but is she out of her depth or boldly taking on the controversial issues that others have feared to tackle.
