Barclays Head is a marathon man.

The Head of Banking at Barclays Wealth has finished the Paris Marathon in under four hours.

Greg Ellison entered the race, together with Barclays Wealth colleague John Howarth, to raise funds for the Isle of Man Children's Centre and Get Kids Going, a UK charity giving disabled children and young people opportunities to participate in sport.

It went well for the former England under-18s rugby player with a time of 3 hours 58. John came home with a time of four hours 11 minutes in his first marathon. Greg, who has been training for five months for the event, is on track to raise about £2000 for the two charities in total. His régime included short, sharp runs around Douglas at 6am during the week and long two to three-hour runs at the weekend. He said: 'When I decided to run the marathon, the first thing I did was get a training partner. By asking John, who's 10 years younger, to run with me I knew it would stretch me.

The cash raised for the charities is being match by Barclays.
