Barclays Student of the Year named

Ethan Moore is Barclays Student of the Year.

The 16 year old Queen Elizabeth II student from Greeba won the award, sponsored annually by the bank in association with the Department of Education.

Ethan, who hopes to pursue a career in IT, wins an all-expenses paid weekend trip to London plus a cash prize. Runner-up was Ballakermeen High School student Jessica McManus, 16, from Onchan, who also wins the London trip and a cash prize.

Ethan was selected from a shortlist of five students, one from each secondary school. Students are assessed on their academic and sporting achievements, as well as their contribution to the arts, their school and community by a panel of judges from Barclays and the Department of Education. The award is made to the student the judges consider the best all-rounder.

The awards ceremony was held at Barclays' head office in Eagle Court, Douglas where Managing Director Chris Connor said the bank was pleased to be recognising the students' exceptional skills and achievements.
