Proposals to improve insulation standards on new and renovated homes in the Island go to Tynwald this week.
An update to Building Regulations aim to bring the Isle of Man in line with current UK standards on energy efficiency - reducing heat loss through a property's walls, floors, windows and floors.
The Department of Infrastructure says the measures, to be laid in Tynwald this month and voted on in July, will bring long-term energy savings for property owners and help cut greenhouse gases.
If approved, the revised Building Regs will apply in the construction of new homes and during repair work of existing properties.
New measures also include an extended list of developments and works not requiring on-site inspection.
The package of measures has been welcomed by Island builder Hartford Homes, whose managing director James Greenhalgh says they raise the bar considerably:
