Business boss urges govt not to turn away specialist skills

Cites Amazon approach to IOM scientist

The COVID-19 pandemic should be an opportunity to showcase specialist skills already being practiced on island.

That’s the opinion of the chief executive of The Hubb which says if they are overlooked it will be harder to attract new business to our shores.

Jason Scales made the comments after discussion in Tynwald about why genome testing was being done in Liverpool rather than by local scientist Dr Rachel Glover.

He believes the credibility of people already working in specialist fields shouldn’t be understated:
