This is a paid for promotion from Manx BirdLife
The Manx Bird Club (formerly the Manx Ornithological Society) and Manx BirdLife are delighted to invite the community to a fun, family-friendly event dedicated to raising awareness of the Isle of Man’s declining Swift population.
The aim is to show how everyone can play a part in helping this much-loved bird thrive once again.
In Castletown Square on Friday 25 July 2025 from 1pm to 5pm, there'll be a day of interactive activities and inspiring community spirit:
- Contribute to a community Swift mural with local artist Eve Adams of ART Squared Studio
- Join the Swift Treasure Hunt – fun for all ages!
- Play the Swift Migration Game – learn about the amazing journey these birds make every year
- Find out how you can help Swifts in your area and learn about volunteering for the Action for Swifts project
Entry is free, and donations are welcome in support of the Manx Bird Club and the Manx BirdLife Action for Swifts initiative.
The event is supported by the Domestic Event Fund and Curraghs Wildlife Park, with further support provided by Castletown Commissioners, who will supply a large video screen, and Ross Cain Plant Hire, who will be providing protective screening for the community mural.
In the lead-up to the event, pupils from Victoria Road School will be taking part in Swift-themed workshops run by Manx BirdLife and creative art sessions with Eve Adams; their artwork will be displayed at the event.
It's hoped this celebration will not only highlight the plight of the Swift but also foster a lasting sense of pride in local wildlife and community collaboration that will resonate for years to come.
