Celton Manx sponsor fireworks again

Back up plan for Saturday and Sunday

Island eGaming firm Celton Manx is to sponsor Douglas council’s public fireworks display for the 7th successive year.

The event will be held on Friday 3 November, with back-up plans in place for Saturday and Sunday (4 & 5 Nov) in the event of bad weather.

As in the past, the event will begin with the Mayor of Douglas judging the Best Guy Competition from 7.15pm, with cash prizes for the top three Guys.

The bonfire on the beach will be lit at 7.30pm, with fireworks being set off to music from a barge moored opposite the War Memorial, from 7.40pm.

Regeneration and Community Committee Chairman Stephen Pitts said: "The council is extremely grateful to Celton Manx for their continued sponsorship of the fireworks display, an eagerly anticipated and extremely popular community event."

Celton Manx Executive Director Bill Mummery said the company was pleased to support what's become one of the largest community events in Douglas.

In the interests of safety, spectators are requested not to bring pets or their own fireworks, including sparklers, to the display.
