Move for all convictions to be declared
Tynwald is due to change the law on company directors – requiring them to declare any and all criminal convictions.
The Financial Intelligence Unit is asking for the changes so it can better fight money laundering and terrorism financing.
At present, people don’t have to declare 'spent' convictions – but the FIU says the recruitment process for directors or other member of staff should require people to declare all convictions, spent or not.
The measures will be considered by the court when it sits a week on Tuesday.
