Channel Islanders call for new health agreement

Guernsey's press is reporting how the Isle of Man 'dodged the bullet' in relation to its reciprocal health agreement with the United Kingdom.

A new debate has been sparked by the case of a couple from the Channel Island who face a £15,000 medical bill after their baby boy was born early.

Emma and Paul Adkins were in the United Kingdom when their son Matthew had to be delivered, and inadequate medical insurance meant they were landed with the huge bill for intensive care treatment.

According to the Guernsey Press and Star, they are now calling for politicians in Guernsey to negotiate a new reciprocal health agreement with the UK.
