Claremont refurb promises wow factor

The multi million pound refurbishment of the Claremont Hotel in Douglas has passed another landmark.

The third phase of the hotel's transformation, designed to attract the international business market, is now complete.

It's seen a structural and stylistic revision of the entire ground floor, creating a new entrance, walnut reception desk granite tiled lobby and up-market meeting spaces in premium lounge facilities.

The four star hotel's upgrade began in 2012 with the renovation of all 56 bedrooms, now marketed as business club rooms and suites boasting a range of comforts and additional facilities.

Managing Director of Sleepwell Hotels Mark Wilson says the company aims to create a luxury business class destination on a par with those available in commercial centres around the world.

He says such facilities are essential for the Island to attract external investment and secure its international reputation .

Interior design for the ground floor upgrade was commissioned from a firm of Berlin-based architects and the building contractor was GJ Inghams of Peel.
