Firm's healthy staff relations recognised

Island road construction and maintenance firm Colas has had its Investors in People gold award standard renewed.

IIP status recognises best practice in personnel management - or as Colas managing director Steph Lowe put it: "where we are at as a company and how we treat our employees."

The firm was the first in the Manx construction industry to achieve gold status in 2013 and two years on, has undergone a further assessment to maintain the accolade.

During a two day visit, Investors in People assessor Mick Lynch interviewed more than a quarter of the company's 60 strong workforce.

He concluded senior management were reaping benefits in terms of long-term planning, staff morale and overall focus.

Economic Development minister with responsibility for the construction industry Laurence Skelly has congratulated Colas saying the award highlights how the company values its most important asset - its people.
