Commendations for Barclays directors

The chairman of the Institute of Directors (IOD) Isle of Man branch has commended six Barclays Wealth Isle of Man directors on their recent exam successes.

Managing directors Simon Scott and Paul Savery, directors Ian Hodgkinson and David Stanley and head of corporate affairs Caroline Cornish have all recently passed both the Institute of Directors Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction.

Fellow director Karl Moore has recently passed the IOD Certificate.

A statement from Barclay's Wealth says a number of areas covered in the comprehensive learning will 'undoubtedly prove invaluable to board members in further developing their roles and improving efficiencies in the operation of the board as a whole'.

Managing director Simon Scott said: 'We have a number of learning and development initiatives in place for our staff and we, as directors, felt it was important for us to lead by example and expand our skills to serve the company as well as we possibly can.

'We have all enjoyed getting back into structured learning.

'We anticipate that these studies will help us to become a more dynamic and strategically driven board able to continue to lead Barclays Wealth to a strong future.'
