New Zurich HQ boasts sustainability factor

Dandara has been showing how its working towards an industry-leading accreditation for sustainable development.

The firm is building the new Zurich International Life offices at the Isle of Man Business Park to the BREEAM rating system, and recently explained what's involved to the Isle of Man branch of the Chartered Institute of Building.

CIOB members were given a presentation on BREEAM and then conducted a site visit so fellow professionals, including quantity surveyors (RICS) and architects (RIBA) could see the work for themselves.

The aim of BREEAM – Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology – is to promote the likes of the long-term sustainability of buildings and low-impact design and the reduction of carbon emissions.

The new ZIL building is one of the first in the Isle of Man to be built using the BREEAM rating system.
