Derbyshire pub demolition battle

A local authority in the United Kingdom is investigating after a pub was demolished without planning permission, as a Manx-based company prepares to apply to build seven new homes on the site.

The Cross Keys at Heanor in Derbyshire was pulled down in November and DHOW NWI Trading Ltd, based in Peel Road, Douglas, has submitted a planning application for houses.

But Amber Valley Borough councillor Paul Jones has complained about the demolition and the authority says it is checking whether planning permission was needed to knock the pub down.

DHOW's planning application will be considered by planning board councillors in the new year.
