DQ backs Belgian challenge at TT Zero

Island law firm Dougherty Quinn is to be principal sponsor for upcoming Belgian electric bike outfit Sarloea at this year's TT Zero.

DQ's managing partner Tom Maher says he was inspired to help the team after witnessing Sarolea's SP7 superbike entry being awarded third place in the 2014 Zero race, only to have it withdrawn when race officials declared it had missed a podium pace by 3/10 of a second.

After speaking with team principal Torsten Robbens, Maher persuaded fellow partners to align DQ with the brand, becoming its only non-motorcycle industry sponsor.

A public partnership between the two was launched at the Brussels Auto Salon in January, when the Belgian prime minister and members of the country's royal family visited the Sarloea stand.

Maher says he regards Saroléa "as a team made up of exceptionally talented and committed individuals who dedicated themselves to the pursuit of excellence and achievement against the odds."

Robbens expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “All of us at Team Saroléa are delighted that DQ has provided not only financial sponsorship, but also passion and enthusiasm in joining with us in our record breaking quest at the TT Zero 2015."
