Employment land study finds two sites

Aim to free sites for industry

A year-long project to find sites that might be developed to create jobs has found just two, on the outskirts of Douglas.

The Cabinet Office, helped by consultants from multinational property firm Bilfinger GVA, asked for suggested sites as part of its Employment Land Review.

And after considering 14 plots of land, Sangster’s Field at the Nunnery houses two potential locations that’ll now undergo a development order process.

The idea is to free up sites for industry in the short-term to alleviate pressures - Policy and Reform Minister John Shimmin says it’s vital to give businesses the space to create jobs.

If a draft development order is prepared, it would undergo public consultation and possibly a public inquiry before going to Tynwald for approval.
