Fire forces late switch of venue for e-gaming summit

An important event for the Island's e-gaming industry next week is switching venues after Thursday's fire at Mount Murray Hotel.

Two hundred and twenty delegates, just under half of them from off-Island, have booked to attend the KPMG eGaming Summit, to hear a line-up of expert speakers, meet clients and network.

The loss of the accommodation block at the Santon hotel in the blaze left organisers with a headache, with the event scheduled for next Tuesday.

Mount Murray hotel bosses have pledged to keep facilities open for functions and conferences, but to avoid any uncertainty KPMG will now hold the summit as previously billed at the Palace Hotel in Douglas.

Russell Kelly, director responsible for e-gaming at KPMG said the summit "..is one of our largest and most popular events and for a moment we were facing a quite significant crisis. Without the support of the Department of Economic Development, Island businesses and key individuals, we may not have been able to find a viable alternative at such short notice."

KPMG has extended its sympathies to the Mount Murray Hotel.
