Food Fayre success

The Blue Team in the recent Manx Executive Challenge has declared its Manx Food Fayre on Tynwald Day a 'resounding success'.

The event was one of the recommendations in a report submitted to the judges as a means of encouraging local people to take pride in, and celebrate Manx produce.

The event was held at Garey ny Cloie Gardens and featured a variety of stalls showing the range of food available.

There was a cooking demonstration and members of the Blue Team handed out leaflets and balloons to the hundreds of people who passed through the doors.

Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says he is delighted to see the 'abundance of fantastic local produce being brought to the forefront', through events such as the food fayre and the regular farmers' markets.

He says: 'Using local produce is so important in this day and age, with rising fuel costs and concerns over carbon emissions'.
