Gaming operator's donation for Manx addiction charity

Gamesys Foundation donates £150,000

Gaming operator Gamesys has donated £150,000 to help people affected by addiction.

Its independent charity – the Gamesys Foundation – will support Motiv8 over the next three years.

The group started operating on the Isle of Man in November last year – the donation will help Motiv8 provide counselling, advice, education and mental health services.

Gamesys managing director Ben Wood said: "The foundation trustees were keen to support a suitable local initiative following the opening of the new Gamesys Group office on the Island.

"In particular we are proud to be associated with a charity that supports the main focus of the foundation which is to preserve and protect the wellbeing of individuals suffering from mental health issues and we will also be working closely with Motiv8 to see how we can offer practical support."

Chief executive of Motiv8 Thea Ozenturk said: "This generous grant from the Gamesys Foundation will cover a significant proportion of the funding we need to raise each year to provide our services.

"It is especially welcome after the increase in demand we have seen due to the Covid lockdowns."
