Gas prices increase

Another fuel bill rise is on the way.

Manx Gas is putting up all natural gas tariffs by 0.54p per unit, a rise of 8.2%.

LPG is also going to cost more - it's going up by 6.4 per cent.

Those increases will come into effect from 10th May.

Manx Gas Commercial Director John Davies says the company's imposed the increases 'very reluctantly', due to global increases in the wholesale price of gas.

Mr Davies says prices are forecast to stay at high levels for the foreseeable future, but has promised the company will reduce bills if there's any downward trend.

The average domestic natural gas customer will face an extra £54 on their bill, based on 10,000 units consumed.
