Highest local marks in last exam

A trainee with an Island-based chartered accountant firm is celebrating after achieving the highest marks locally in his final exam.

Charlie Burton, who is qualifying with Grant Thornton, sat fifteen exams over a three-year period to secure an ACA qualification as an audit senior through the institute of Chartered Accountants.

He was also awarded an Isle of Man Society of Chartered Accountants prize as a result of the score.

Manx-born Charlie was educated at Willaston Primary and St Ninian's High School before studying Accountancy and Finance at Lancaster University, and will become fully qualified at the end of his training in July.

Managing Partner at Grant Thornton described the twenty-four-year-old as 'a credit' to the firm.
