Responsible Business Awards off the blocks

Accolades for firms, charities, individuals

Leaders, role models and mentors from the Island's business community were among the winners at last night's first Responsible Business Awards.

Around 130 people attended a gala ceremony at the Palace Hotel in Douglas, which celebrated organisations and individuals 'who respect and strive towards equality and diversity'.

Award categories recognised private sector firms, public bodies, charities and voluntary groups, ranging from Microgaming and the Constabulary, to the Family and Mobile Library and Beach Buddies.

Individuals who've made a difference in their organisations were saluted as inspirational leaders and positive role models.

Luke Adebiyi was named Diversity Champion of the Year, for his work fostering ethnic minority talent at Lloyds Banking Group.  

Other winners in the category were founder of the Manx Rainbow Association Lee Clarke and multi lingual teacher Monika Ewa Swiatek.
