Austerity hits online activity
Manx-based egaming firm GVC Holdings says it’s seen a drop in player activity in Greece – but it’s too soon to tell if that will hit its performance.
The company, which operates in Greece through its partner Centric Multimedia, said its other territories had performed well and its board remains confident in its year-end expectations.
Sports betting is hugely popular in Greece, but the market has been hit by ongoing austerity, debt and bailout uncertainties.
GVC also added it’s still in talks to buy its bigger rival Bwin – it’s reported to have offered £900 million pounds for Bwin.Party.
