Hotels can stage wedding ceremonies

Two Douglas hotels have become the first in the Isle of Man to win approval to host civil weddings.

The Sefton and the Best Western Palace Hotel have been granted Approved Status and given three year licences to stage the ceremonies.

It follows a change in the law which allows couples to marry in venues other than churches and registry offices.

Both hotels have been popular venues for wedding receptions for a number of years, but now couples can host their entire wedding day from start to finish, at one venue.

Sefton Group hotels manager Paul Forrest says he is delighted with the approval, as couples who have held their receptions in the Sefton and Palace often say that, if they could, they would have been married there too.

A showcase for what is on offer for wedding ceremonies at both hotels will be held at the Sefton Wedding Fair on February 18. The event will run for three hours, from 1pm.
