The investigation into the collision between the Steam Packet fast craft Sea Express 1 and the bulk carrier Alaska Rainbow has moved on a stage.
The incident happened in the River Mersey, in thick fog on, February 3.
There were no injuries, which was considered fortunate, given the circumstances and the disparity in sizes between the two vessels.
The bulk carrier was under tow as Sea Express 1 approached its dock on the Mersey.
The collision has been under full investigation by the United Kingdom's Marine Accident investigation branch, and enquiries have now moved on to the consultation stage.
