The Isle of Man is hosting a prestigious two day meeting of specialists within the shipping industry today and tomorrow (Thursday).
The specialist Naval Architects group, WG2, is studying specific aspects of updating the International Gas Carrier Code (IGC) which is the bible for all involved in building and operating gas ships.
The code is now 30 years old and members of the Society of Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators have been urging the International Marine Organisation to update it for some time to take account of new technologies.
The Isle of Man meeting is being hosted by Bernhard Schulte IoM Ltd and commercial director Chris Clucas says it will gain positive publicity for the Island in shipping circles.
