
A satellite bought by Manx-based space company SES Satellite Leasing Ltd has been successfully launched from French Guiana.
NSS-9 roared into space onboard an Ariane 5 ECA booster from the European Spaceport in Kourou at 7.10pm on Thursday, local time.
It will be positioned at an orbital location of 183 degrees east, providing communications services around the whole of the Pacific Rim.
It's poised to be the SES group's 40th satellite in its global fleet.
