Manx firm buys Stobart group

A Manx company is to buy a controlling stake in what’s probably Britain’s most famous haulier.

The Stobart Group is selling 51 per cent of its trucking business to Douglas-based investment firm DBAY in a deal worth around £280 million.

DBAY will pay £195.6 million in cash for Eddie Stobart Logistics and take on £41million of debt

The sale means the new Manx owner can use the iconic Eddie Stobart brand free for four years, before negotiating a licensing deal.
