Long queues cause some to miss flights
Manx residents have taken to social media to complain after huge queues at Manchester Airport caused people to miss their flights.
The airport has apologised saying security lines in terminal one have been significantly longer due to a combination of factors including the 'rapid recovery' of international travel.
A spokesperson said this was compounded by up to 60 per cent of customer bags being rejected as they passed through security because they contained restricted items.
Local passengers returning to the Island reported waiting in queues for hours, despite arriving in good time, and making their flights with just minutes to spare.
In response to the problems the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is offering discounted rates for people who do miss their flight.
Until Monday they're offering foot passenger fares for under £20, on the 2.15am service from Heysham, for those who show confirmation of a missed flight.
