An MHK says a survey he carried out suggests the cost of living in the Isle of Man is about eleven per cent higher than in the United Kingdom.
In the House of Keys today, Rushen member Juan Watterson said he reached the conclusion using prices published by the Manx Treasury for a range of selected items, including food, alcoholic drink, cigarettes and fuel.
Treasury Minister Allan Bell told Mr Watterson there were no plans to carry out a direct comparison between Isle of Man and UK figures this year, but a similar exercise was being undertaken:
