Microgaming funds new disability sport club

A Manx business is helping fund a new sports facility on the Island for people with severe physical disabilities.

A Powerchair football club is being launched in April by Manx Sport and Recreation thanks to a donation from e gaming software firm Microgaming.

The sport, already popular in the UK, is played indoors with two teams of up to four people in wheelchairs. It caters for players with a wide range of disabilities including quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and spinal cord injury.

Microgaming Health and Care Trust will provide funds for goal posts, bumpers, coaching equipment, training facilities and also meet coaching costs.

The Powerchair football club will hold taster sessions for children and adults to try the activity.

The first workshop will take place on Tuesday 14 April 14th at 5pm at the Isle of Man College.
