The new member of the Legislative Council takes up his role at the Department of Economic Development in earnest today (Tuesday), as government business resumes following the Christmas break.
Tony Wild, who has held senior positions at Lloyds TSB and Standard Bank, was appointed to the department shortly after being elected to LegCo, just as the festive season began.
Mr Wild has said he is keen to use his business experience to help grow the Isle of Man's economy.
Chief Minister Allan Bell is confident he has much to contribute:
