The policy which ensures large retail units stay in Douglas town centre seems unlikely to change, when the new eastern area plan is drawn up, from the end of this year.
Environment minister John Shimmin (pictured) told the House of Keys exceptions were only allowed if a central location was unsuitable for the items being sold, or if they needed to be traded from the place they were manufactured.
