North West the biggest loser as passenger numbers fall

Passenger traffic at Ronaldsway suffered a further decline of almost 12% in May.

Nearly 8,500 fewer people passed through the airport compared with May 2008.

The North West market saw the greatest decline, with a fall of 4,500.

There was also an 8.3% drop in people flying to London airports and a 12% decline in passengers travelling to both the Midlands and Ireland.

Airport Director Anne Reynolds says the decrease is still slightly ahead of the current national trend in the United Kingdom.
