Poker players raise cash for the Phillipines

Manx-based egaming company Pokerstars has so far raised more than £186,000 to help those affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

The company, through its corporate giving programme ‘Helping Hands’, has teamed up with relief charity CARE International to launch an emergency appeal.

Players on the Onchan-based poker giant’s network have so far donated $150,000 towards providing shelter, water and food to communities hit by the disaster.

The company says it will match the total amount raised, effectively doubling the cash that will go to the appeal.
