Ramsey firm makes substantial donation

AFD Software pledges £750k to charity

An Island-based technology firm is set to dig deep for the benefit of several charitable donations this week.

After a bumper year, AFD Software is to give away £750,000 to local and global good causes at its annual charity evening on Thursday (26 Nov).

One of the main benefactors this year will be Hope for Justice (HfJ) which works to combat modern-day slavery and human trafficking worldwide.

The organisation has liberated more than 70 unlawfully imprisoned people in 2015, including a high-profile case which saw 40-year-old Ofonime Inuk freed after 24 years entrapped as a slave in North London.

Mr Inuk moved to the UK from Nigeria aged just 14, only to find himself under 'total psychological control' by two captors who coerced him into working for free.

After appealing for help to the Metropolitan Police, Inuk contacted Hope for Justice and the perpertrators were subsequrntly brought to justice.

Locally, AFD Software has previously given financial help to the local charities including the Hyperbaric Chamber, Isle of Man Hospice and the One World Foundation.

Charity and social responsibility are priorities for AFD Software, which has held Christian values high on its agenda since it was founded in 1983.
