Regulators must stay alert

FSA chiefs give evidence

Major changes to financial services in the fallout of the 2008 banking crisis and increasing pressures to meet international standards have kept regulators hot on their heels.

Chairman of the Financial Service Authority, Geoff Karran, and chief executive Karren Badgerow were giving evidence to a Tynwald select committee, tasked with reviewing economic policy.

They detailed some of the issues they face as regulators of the Island's financial sector and the success of their merger with the insurance and pensions authority.

Ewan Gawne spoke to both, and asked, in an atmosphere of uncertainty with issues like Brexit looming, what challenges lay on the horizon for their organisation:
