MT move expected says IT consultant
Substantial reductions in mobile phone roaming charges in the UK and EU announced this week by MT are good news - but commercially inevitable.
That view on Manx Telecom's 90% reduction in data roaming costs from Island IT consultant Steve Burrows.
All UK mobile operators ditched roaming charges in mid-June, and included the Isle of Man and Channel Islands in the net.
That meant UK mobile numbers could be used here with no financial penalty, while by contrast use of Isle of Man sims would attract penalties across.
The new deal will benefit pay-monthly customers who migrate to a new Smartroam tarriff.
Sure has yet to announce similar measures, but is expected to follow suit.
