Sponsor for capital's fireworks party

Celton Manx bets on popular event

Online sports betting firm Celton Manx is to sponsor a public fireworks display in the capital on bonfire night.

It will be the Island firm's sixth successive year supporting the event, staged by Douglas Borough Council.

Fireworks set to music will be fired from the beach at 7.45 pm on Saturday 5 November, after the Best Guy competition.

Celton Manx Executive Director Bill Mummery said the event had the potential to attract people from all over the Island, and in boosting footfall would benefit local businesses.

This year's event will see funds raised for a disabled-friendly lodge at Glen Wyllin campsite, in memory of teenager Sophie Birtles who died this year from an incurable condition - and whose favourite song was Katy Perry's Firework
