Tom Burston

Immersive opportunity for bright student

There an opportunity for Island students and graduates to spend the summer immersed in international banking - if they meet the demanding 'spec' drawn-up by Africa's largest bank.

Standard Bank Wealth International has opened its 2017 summer intern scheme aimed at 'high calibre, motivated school leavers or undergraduates with a strong set of A-Level results.

It will run from 10 July to 1 September, and successful applicants will be mentored, paid and encouraged to offer their own ideas and perspectives.

Standard says its intern scheme launched in 2015, has been 'hugely successful' with around seven interns completing the programme each year, some being offered permanent employment.

Tom Burston, resourcing partner said: "Interns will experience the full diversity of international banking, including corporate and business banking, wealth management, marketing and operations."

"From Jersey of the Isle of Man, interns will be able to help drive Africa's growth and make a real difference to this fascinating continent."
